Laterally on October 2021, Facebook announced amendment of its name to be “Meta” as from November 2021. A US company based in Chicago took appropriate steps against such amendment basing same on using its formerly commercial name “Meta”.
The Facebook Company is now facing problems using the new commercial name that a live trademark was filed for Meta Company in 2016 that lists the registrant owner at Chicago, Illinois. However, there is a 2015 trademark listed for Meta with the owner listed as the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
